Our Story

Krish and Riya started their charity work years before Krishya Kares was formed. Here are some projects that the did, both together and individually, as they were growing up. It all started when Krish, age 6, heard about children spending long periods of time, including holidays, in the hospital.

Levine Children's Hospital June 2015

Krish met with the Director at Levine Children's Hospital to ask what the needs are for the children staying at the hospital. He learned that coloring books and crayons were much needed items. For his birthday that year, Krish asked his friends to donate coloring books and crayons instead of bringing birthday presents. Once all the items were collected, Krish and Riya both dropped them off at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Hope of Mooresville - HOMe

Riya found out that there were babies in a homeless shelter nearby. She met with the coordinator at the Hope of Mooresville and was told that they are in need of diapers, baby food and baby essentials. Riya then decided to fundraise for her birthday. For two years, Riya helped raise money and ton of supplies for the babies.

School Supplies

During the Summer of 2020, as many schools were planning to open, Krish and Riya realized that there may be so many students without proper school supplies that year. They researched Title 1 schools in the area and emailed the principals of several schools asking for their needs. Three principals responded asking for school supplies. Krish and Riya raised money from friends and family, researched the best prices on bulk supplies. They went shopping and loaded carts full of notebooks, pencils, markers, etc. They personally delivered the supplies to all three schools. The principals at the schools were thrilled!

5K Run - March 2024

Krish and Riya participated in a 5K run to raise money for colorectal screenings for the Andretti Foundation. Krishya Kares was formed during this time in order to provide more access to quality health care for the indigent population.
